Oat Patties
Ingredients
1 cup “Porridge Oats” (e.g. Zernovyta brand)
1/2 cup boiling water
1 potato
2–3 fresh champignon mushrooms
1 onion
2 garlic cloves
Fresh herbs, salt, and pepper to taste
2 tablespoons vegetable oil (for frying)
Cooking:
Place the oats into a bowl, pour boiling water over them, cover, and let them soak for 20 minutes.
Peel the potato and onion, wash, and grate them finely. Dice the mushrooms into small cubes. Chop the herbs and press the garlic through a garlic press.
Add the grated potato, onion, garlic, mushrooms, and herbs to the soaked oats. Mix well. Season with salt and pepper.
The oat mixture should be neither too thick nor too runny. Shape into patties using your hands or a spoon.
Heat a frying pan with vegetable oil and place the patties on the pan using a spoon or spatula.
Fry over medium heat until golden brown on one side. Flip, fry for 1 more minute, then reduce the heat to low, cover with a lid, and cook for another 5 minutes until done.
