Barley Porridge with Vegetables

Ingredients

1 cup "Zernovyta" barley groats

1 onion

1 carrot

0.5 tsp salt

Butter to taste

5 cups water

Turmeric to taste

Fresh herbs for serving

 

Cooking:

Grate the onion and carrot.

In a pan, melt a little butter. Add the grated onion and carrot and sauté until golden brown.

Rinse the barley groats "Zernovyta" thoroughly in cold water.

In a pot, add the sautéed vegetables, pour in the water, add salt and turmeric.

Bring the mixture to a boil over medium heat.

Gradually add the barley groats while stirring constantly. Once it boils, reduce the heat to a minimum.

Cover the pot with a lid and cook the porridge until ready.

Serve the porridge hot, garnished with fresh herbs.
