Zakarpattian Banosh with Bryndza
Ingredients
Cornmeal – 200 g
Homemade sour cream or cream – 400 ml
Water – 1 cup
Bryndza (salted sheep cheese) – 200 g
Butter – 30 g
Salt – to taste
Cooking:
Place a pot on the stove, add 1 cup of water, and wait for it to boil. Once the water is boiling, add salt and pour in the cornmeal, stirring constantly until it’s almost cooked.
Add the cream or sour cream, stir, and cook until fully done.
Once the porridge is ready, add the butter, mix, and let it sit for a while to rest.
Crumble the bryndza. Serve the porridge on a plate and sprinkle the bryndza on top. The porridge will be quite thick. If you prefer a more liquid consistency, increase the amount of water.
