Cherry Swirl Cake (“Snail” style pastry)

Ingredients

450 g flour (e.g. Zernovyta brand)

250 ml yogurt

200 g butter

50 g sugar

1 tsp baking powder

Vanilla to taste

Filling:

400 g cherries (fresh or pitted)

Sugar to taste

Cooking:

In a large bowl, combine the flour, sugar, baking powder, and vanilla. Mix well.

Add softened butter (cut into pieces) and yogurt. Knead until you get a smooth dough.

Cover the dough with a kitchen towel and let it rest for 15 minutes.

Roll out the dough into a rectangle and cut it into 4 strips.

Place cherries along each strip and sprinkle lightly with sugar.

Seal each strip to form tubes. Arrange them in a greased baking dish in a spiral shape, forming a "snail".

Bake at 180°C (350°F) for about 35 minutes.

Once cooled, sprinkle the top with powdered sugar.
